What is the difference between French doors and double doors?
Great questions, come with simple answers!
While searching for dream doors we all seem to find terms such as double or French
doors. It may be slightly confusing, especially because both doors have two panels
side by side and open the same way.
So, what makes a door French door?
Let’s begin with where the term French doors came from. In the 17th century French doors were originally designed in France to let as much natural sunlight as possible to dimmed and cool interiors. The large glass panes and elegant slim steel frames was the perfect way to invite openness and light into homes. French doors were designed from different types of materials but mostly from steel as this was the only material offering the slimmest and strongest frames possible, allowing installations of large panes of glass in the designs. The glass itself is an architectural touch that can be divided to smaller sizes and create a unique grid which perfectly blends with interiors or exteriors of homes.

What classes as French door?
Simply a door that has two door panels, open from the middle and is able to withstand large panes of glass allowing the natural light to pass throughout homes or from the outside world.
Are double doors the same as French doors ?
The answer is no, although they are similar in terms of functionality. Double doors are
a solid construction. You may think.. are there any disadvantages of French doors?
No, because it’s a matter of choosing the correct door in the appropriate settings. If you are looking to bring the natural light into your home, French doors as well as other systems in steel will definitely be the choice that will make your home feel comfortable and brighter, consequently put the value of your home higher as well as reduce the energy bills.
